Nara Chandrababu Naidu Celebrates 71st birthday on 20 April
The leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly the first Chief Minister of the state Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu after it was divided, who is celebrating his 71st birthday on 20 April 1950. Nara Chandrababu Naidu is a dynamic statesman, reformer and a visionary leader. He works for people’s welfare, development and growth and strikes the perfect balance between short-term goals, long-term vision and commitment to delivery.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu is an Indian politician who has been Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister since 2014 to 2019. Previously he served as A.P. Chief Minister from 1995 to 2004. He is also the president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Naidu became the state’s youngest assembly member and youngest minister at age 28, Naidu gave special importance to the use of information technology (IT) and was Successful in making Hyderabad as one of the best IT hubs in India, earning praise from all over the global leaders and media for his public policies and approach to governance.
Naidu lost the 2004 and 2009 elections subsequently for not providing enough focus on agriculture by his administration. After the 2014 Assembly elections, Naidu was re-elected as Chief Minister. He has won several awards, including IT Indian of the Millennium from India Today, Business Person of the Year by The Economic Times, South Asian of the Year since Time Asia and membership in the Dream Cabinet of the World Economic Forum.
Family background
Naidu was born on April 20, 1950 in Naravaripalle, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, to an agricultural family. His father, Nara Kharjura Naidu was from an agriculture background and his mother Amanamma, was a housewife. He married Bhuvaneswari in 1980, the second daughter of N. T Rama Rao. He has a Son named Nara Lokesh. Attended primary school in Seshapuram up to class five and then went to Chandragiri Government High School up to class nine. He went to Tirupati for his higher education, studying there from class 10 until he received his master’s degree. Naidu completed his BA degree in 1972. In 1974, he began working to obtain a doctorate under D. L. Narayana (chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Finance Commission), investigating N.’s economic ideas of N. G. Ranga. Naidu did not complete his PhD, instead became a politician. In 2000 the Kellogg School of Management honoured Chandrababu with professorship.
Political career:
At a very young age Naidu joined the Indian Youth Congress as a student leader in Chandragiri, near Tirupati. After the emergency was imposed in the country in 1975, he became a close follower of the president of the Indian Youth Congress, Sanjay Gandhi. Naidu became a member of the Congress of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Chandragiri constituency in 1978. The party’s 20% quota for youth to run for the office was beneficial for him. Not long after, Naidu was appointed minister of technical education and cinematography at T. Anjaiah’s government at the age of 28.
He was the youngest minister in the cabinet of Congress. As film minister, Naidu came into contact with N. T. Rama Rao, a popular film star in Telugu cinema. In 1982, N. T. Rama Rao formed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) after being defeated by a TDP candidate in Chandragiri. He joined the TDP soon after.
Chief Ministership:
His vision is to make Andhra Pradesh the most prominent state in India during his tenure. In terms of standard of living for my people, he wished to achieve this by encouraging private investment-both domestic and international -which will be the prime engine of growth. His vision of Andhra Pradesh is a state where poverty is totally eradicated; where everybody has access to not just the basic minimum needs but to all the opportunities for leading a happy and fulfilling life. And the adoption of knowledge in all the aspects of development and governance. Naidu’s dream is Swarnandhra Pradesh (Golden Andhra Pradesh). It means that he wants to make Andhra Pradesh the foremost state in the country in terms of growth, equity and quality of life.
Chandra babu Naidu worked on rural development and poverty eradication through involving people in the sustainable development process and triggering new innovative reforms in the administration. He played a major role in the development and reshaping Hyderabad as a world class happening city with global recognition. He worked on the different programs Janmabhoomi, played a major role in the establishment of Various Major Institutions under his leadership, Lift Irrigation project, Amaravati (state capital), developed Hyderabad as an IT Hub and many more.
