Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Museum, popular known as Visakha Museum is of great Historic significance. The Museum is located in the city of Visakhapatnam. At a distance of 5 kms from Visakhapatnam (Vizag) Railway Station. It has got the historic treasures and artifacts of Kalinga Andhra Dynasty. The artifact collection represents the historical era of the city of Vizag, which includes antique armories, tableware, coins, silk costumes, jewelry, stuffed animals, portraits, manuscripts, letters, diaries, scrapbooks, periodicals, and maps. All of these were used by the earlier people of the region.

There are many models of warships, planes and submarines can also be seen in the museum. These are many historical items which were presented by other different countries. It also displays a search light reflector 30 of Vasco-da-Gama’s voyage who discovered India and also the works of Nehru “To be serve on land, we must be supreme at sea”.

The museum attracts a huge number of tourists, as it offers interesting historic preserves of the city of Vizag. The Museum is situated at the Ramakrishna Beach road. In olden days there happens to be a ruined Dutch bungalow, which was renovated and turned into a museum, which is known as Visakha Museum. The Museum showcases the weapons which were used in olden days like steel bows, handguns and revolvers, daggers and swords, helmets Greek/roman, are the rare collections of the museum.

The museum displays the shell of a 250-lb unexploded bomb dropped by Japanese during the world-war-II. The photographs of mahatma Gandhi walking with other prominent leaders, personalities of Vizag, are also seen in the museum, the desk used by Gandhiji and later by Sri Tenali Viswanathan is also displayed in the museum.
