Panchadarla derives its name from the five jets of water that flow from five sources from a perennial natural spring. There is a Lingam in which other lingams are carved in 12 rows of 85 each and therefore also known as ‘Kotilingam’ (crore Lingas). There are various inscriptions dating from the 15th century (Eastern Chalukyas) found on the mandapam pillars in the temple.

The Road Transport Corporation (RTC) is operates one bus from Gajuwaka to Vadrapalli village every day. The bus makes two trips in the morning and two in the evening. Panchadarla – Sri Uma Dharmalingeswara Swamy, Dharapalem Vizag

In this village we can see Wonderful shiva temple. It was built by eastern chalukyas from 11 to 13 centuries. From 5 places the water will be coming, not knowing from where it is coming. This water finally reached the tank near the temple. Uma Dharma Lingeswara Swamy Temple and Radha Madhava Swamy Temple are famous in the village. In the time of Vijayanagara (bobbili) period this place used to be a tax collection place.

Panchadarla temple, which was constructed by the Eastern Chalukya Cholas in the ninth century, is in state of utter neglect. Hundreds of soaps and shampoo sachets are found floating in the water tank near temple premises which is fed by a perennial water source. But neither the archeology department nor the touristry or endowments department don’t seem to be taking any responsibility for correctly maintaining or preserving this heritage structure.

  • The temple is deprived of income as entry is free for devotees
  • The temple is maintained from the income generated from the farm lands donated by Rajas of Vizianagaram
  • With picturesque surroundings, it can become the delight of tourists if the endowments and tourism department take initiative to develop the temple
