Sachin Tendulkar birthday

Sachin Tendulkar was born on April 24th 1973 in Dadar, Mumbai, India. A former Indian international cricketer who doesn’t need much introduction to the cricket lovers. Sachin was bestowed with some titles by his fans namely ‘’Master Blaster”, “Little Master”, “The God of Cricket”, “The World’s Best Athlete”.

Family

Sachin was born to Late Ramesh Tendulkar and Rajini Tendulkar. He has two brothers namely Nitin and Ajit and a sister Savita. He did his schooling from the Sharadhasramam Vidyamandir High school. In class he was never a grade student but was a good athlete. He was married to Dr. Anjali and has 2 children.

Career

Sachin Tendulkar began his career at the age of 13. At first, he concentrated to be a fast bowler but later as per the suggestion of Dennis Lillie he chose batting. Now we all know that he is a right-handed batsman. By 2011 World cup he became the highest run scorer. He was very much emotionally moved by that victory in the World cup.

He was the first batsman to cross the 34,000 runs and played a total of 637 matches. On March 16th 2012 his most anticipated 100th century milestone was accomplished. His milestones and achievements are an unbeatable record by any other cricketer till date.              

He also made a mark in bowling. He is a Right arm medium, leg break, off break bowler. His cricket career was from 1989 -2013

Sachin also played 310 First Class matches (FC) and 551 List A cricket (LC) matches and scored 25,396 and 21,999 runs respectively. He scored 81 centuries and 116 fifties in FC matches and 60 centuries and 114 fifties in LC matches.

Awards

Sachin has won several awards and his recognition across the world is a big achievement to India. Some of his awards were

  • Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1997
  • Padma shri in 1999
  • Padma Vibhushan in 2008
  • Bharat Ratna in 2013

Sachin is the youngest to date and the first ever sportsperson to receive the award. In 2012 he was nominated to Rajya Sabha. He is the first sportsperson without an aviation background winning the rank of “Group Captain” by the Indian Air force. He was included as “The most influential person” in the world.

  • Sachin bombed his highest number of centuries (49) and fifties (96) in ODI.
  • The highest number of centuries in Tests 51.
  • He is the only man to play 200 tests.
  • He has the record of scoring most Man of the Matches (62) & Man of the Series (15) awards
  • Longest ODI career i.e. 22 years 91 days
  • Most centuries in world cups 6.

He also holds a record of unlucky dismissals in 90s across all forms of international cricket. It counts to a total of 27 times. At several times he broke his own records and stood as an inspiration for many upcoming players and won many hearts across the world.

Achievements

Sachin Tendulkar went on to represent Mumbai domestically and India internationally for 24 years. He is the only player to have scored 100 international centuries, the first batsman to score a double century in ODI. He is the first international player to sign with England Storied Yorkshire Club.

Captaincy

Sachin is the new captain on 10th August 1996 at 23 years and 109 days of age. He became the captain of the team replacing Mohd. Azharuddin. But his captaincy is not a flowery couch. He was under a lot of pressure and stress and the media at that time didn’t support him.

Retirement

Sachin announced his retirement on 23rd December 2012 from ODI cricket. He retired from T20 cricket in October 2013 and subsequently retired from all forms of cricket on 16th November 2013. His last 200th test match was against West Indies in his favourite Wankadhe stadium Mumbai.

Interesting fact

An interesting fact about Sachin is that he bats, bowls and throws with his right hand but writes with his left hand. His favourite shot to note is hitting the ball in straight drive and he is renowned to hit balls over square. He also acted in a Bollywood movie named “stumped”. A Billion Dreams is a 2017 Indian documentary on the lifestyle of Sachin.

Fan time

Sachin has a huge fan following across the globe. It is well known that Sachin was called as “cricket god”. But he himself reported that “I am not a God of Cricket. I make mistakes but God doesn’t”. In Australia he has a separate fan base where he scored many centuries. His ODI shirt number is 10 which is very much alluring.

The impact of Sachin on Indian cricket is that whenever we talk about cricket the very first name, we get into our minds is Sachin and the aura he put on Indian cricket is before Sachin and after Sachin.
